The Empire State Building, one of the Worlds Most Famous buildings, opened a new 10,000 Square Foot Empire Lounge. The Club Lounge offers a 400-person All-Hands Space, Multi-Sport Court, and Golf Simulators. The Club Level, situated just below the lobby, provides unlimited opportunities to connect under one iconic roof and is open to all office tenants during the workday.

Solution

When the Empire State Building required a versatile seating solution for one of its multi-use lounge areas, Hussey was selected to deliver a system that could transition effortlessly between recreational and professional use. This project became a compelling example of Husseys ability to integrate its two core markets, Hussey Seatway and Hussey Seating.

Hussey Seating provided the retractable platform, enabling the space to transform from a sports court into a presentation-ready venue. Complementing this, Hussey Seatway contributed its premium Club bench, mounted on the Maxam Plus retractable unit. The result was a seating system that combined engineering precision with comfort, perfectly suited to the iconic setting of the Empire State Building.

Installed in a lounge that doubles as a sports court, the retractable seating allows the room to be quickly converted into bleacher-style seating for meetings and presentations, and then easily retracted to open the space for basketball and other activities. The system consists of three manually operated banks, upholstered in Camiras Era range, colour CSE44, offering a sleek and contemporary finish that complements the buildings modern aesthetic.

By blending the strengths of Hussey Seatway and Hussey Seating, the project delivered a retractable seating solution that balances functionality, style, and adaptability, a true reflection of Husseys ability to bridge markets and meet the evolving needs of high-profile clients.
