Project overview
Rougemont School
Location: London, UK
Nestled in 50 acres of picturesque parkland in Newport, Wales, Rougemont School is one of the regions leading independent schools. From the age of three in Nursery through to Sixth Form, pupils at Rougemont benefit from a nurturing and ambitious environment that continues to evolve with their needs.
As the schools community grew, so did its vision. To accommodate new facilities and enhance the student experience, Rougemont invested over £3 million secured through a funding package from NatWest into the development of a cutting-edge building that would house a 600-seat auditorium, a dedicated Sixth Form Centre, and a modern refectory.
Solution
To support this transformation, Hussey Seatway was selected to provide a bespoke retractable seating solution. We supplied a travelling Seatway TP unit, designed to be repositioned within the space to suit both large-scale events and more intimate gatherings. The unit stands 12 rows high and seats up to 336 spectators. For added comfort and cohesion, the Gallery 3 chair was chosen and upholstered in Camira fabric to reflect the schools colours.
To further extend the halls capacity, we also provided 350 HDS stacking chairs along with transportation trolleys, allowing the school to accommodate over 600 guests when needed. This flexible seating arrangement ensures the space can adapt seamlessly to a variety of uses from performances and assemblies to lectures and community events.
In 2019, Rougemont School proudly unveiled the Frank Edwards Building, a landmark addition that embodies the schools commitment to excellence. With its state-of-the-art auditorium, vibrant refectory, and inspiring Sixth Form Centre, the new facility marks a significant step forward in Rougemonts journey of growth and innovation.
